Know how to Do More With Less

Since the beginning of time, automation has helped people to pursue efficiency in their work. Some of these were dated from the earliest dates back to the 1st Century BC with water wheels—a way for the Greeks and Romans to grind grain into flour. Even watermills and windmills in the 9th Century were parts of mill machinery advancement. Though the process still required human intervention to make it semi-fully automatic, the evolution of automation continues to grow and develop. Through the years, automation became a staple word not only for industrial and manufacturing revolutions but also for the tech industry.

In his Forbes article, Inger, the Founder and CEO of Droidal, a firm driving the hyper-automation revolution to simplify complex tasks and processes, explained the importance of automation and how it serves its sole purpose: supreme efficiency and productivity. “Automation’s impact goes beyond productivity; it significantly enhances workplace culture. By automating mundane tasks, leaders send a clear message: They value their team’s time and creativity. This can help create a culture where team members feel supported and encouraged to pursue meaningful work, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their contributions,” he said.

Automation

But what exactly does automation do to change the game of tech? Workato, ITG’s tech partner, capitalized on what automation can do and made it a solution to help many businesses achieve supreme efficiency and productivity, leading toward a digital transformation journey.” Digital transformation, at its heart, is about delivering new products and services to customers in new ways, via new channels, based on new business models to engage them better,” said Vijay Tella, the founder and CEO of workato. “Transforming the customer journey with things like streamlined lead prospecting, enhanced customer onboarding, preemptive churn reduction, and accelerated quote-to-cash is at the core of digital transformation. Workflow automation is essential to defining and orchestrating detailed business processes across all your systems, people, partners, and customers.”

Tella is just one of the core ensuring a smooth workflow. The gap between humans and technology, however, remains a key factor in how far we can maximize the potential of automation.  “Even with a great workflow automation tool, re-inventing the wheel to solve the same problems from scratch that thousands of other companies have already solved is not very smart. As a company with an aggressive timeline, you want to start with the best practices and then apply your secret sauce or point-of-view,” he said. “What would it mean for your business if you could access smart, customizable workflows automatically created for you based on proven results from thousands of other companies doing similar things? An enterprise automation platform gets you to smarter processes more quickly.”

Integration

This is where integration comes in with automation. It’s like two sides of the same coin with the same value but working distinctly and differently in the discipline.  Massimo Pezzini, Head of Research, Future of the Enterprise, shared the importance of IT automation and integration. “There is no automation without integration and automation is a key use case for integration,” he said. “Via the end-to-end model of automation, you can orchestrate a best-of-breed set of business capabilities provided by different applications and systems, thus defining and implementing more effective, impactful, and differentiated processes. These processes are often cross-functional, for example, spanning across your finance, HR, and customer service or procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing functional units.”

Pezzini further explained that integration means making an independent entity that bridges the gap between two things, be it software or hardware. “The modern, end-to-end model of automation described above requires independently-designed systems (including software applications and machines) to work together in order to automate (that is, “remove manual activity from”) a process. For example, by using the output data of a system (say, sales data in a CRM application) as input data for the next step in a process (for example, an ERP system), employees can avoid manually re-keying data from system to system,” he added.

Power of AI-driven Integration and Automation

One automates the other, and one integrates the other. It’s a cycle of process where both work together. This helps the company rely on full trust in its chosen software, like Workato and ITG. When one automates mundane and repetitive tasks, the other integrates to connect with other existing and stand-alone applications. Now from automation to integration comes a new generation: the power of AI. As you know, many softwares are now engaging and investing in AI as part of a new evolution and transition to tech trend. ITG, along with Workto, offers AI driven integration and automation that empowers organizations for their business and operation processes. “We founded Workato with the vision of empowering anyone to transform their business processes through integrations and automations. With AI@Work, our vision can be fully realized,”Jon Gitlin said, Content Strategist at Workato. “In addition, our users can now dedicate less time to learning and using our platform, giving them the opportunity to focus more on brainstorming novel and impactful automations. Once they put their workshopped solutions to action, they’ll inspire additional colleagues to participate, thus allowing your organization to innovate at a whole new level.”
