Keynote: A Systems Thinking Analysis to Leadership in Digital Transformation

In his keynote speech, Mr. Mario Domingo, Global Chief Technology Officer of UBX Philippines Corporation, shared valuable insights on the evolving landscape of Digital Transformation (DT) and its profound impact on modern organizations. His presentation explored several critical themes, including how Digital Transformation is reshaping organizational structures and redefining the concept of leadership within a digital ecosystem.

Mr. Domingo emphasized that leadership in a DT environment should no longer be viewed as a traditional top-down directive. Instead, he advocated for a more dynamic and adaptive approach—one where leadership emerges organically within complex systems, fostering innovation and agility across all levels of an organization.

He began his talk with a concise yet information-rich overview of Digital Transformation, highlighting its historical evolution, the pivotal role leadership plays in driving successful transformation initiatives, and the current state of DT in the Philippines. Mr. Domingo underscored that effective leadership has been, and continues to be, a key enabler in navigating the challenges and seizing the opportunities brought by digital change.

In closing, it is clear that leadership in the context of Digital Transformation is not confined to traditional roles or hierarchical positions. Rather, it is a dynamic, system-wide function that evolves with the complexity of the digital ecosystem. By applying a systems thinking perspective, we gain a deeper understanding of how leadership influences—and is influenced by—transformational outcomes.

This study offers significant contributions not only to academic theory but also to practical implementation and policy development in the digital age. Most notably, it introduces a groundbreaking systems thinking simulation model, grounded in Critical Realism and Morphogenetic Theory. This model provides a powerful new lens for analyzing and predicting leadership effectiveness in digital transformation initiatives.

As we continue to navigate an increasingly digital future, embracing leadership as an emergent, adaptive process will be key to building resilient, innovative, and forward-thinking organizations.

Untangling Complexity & Blueprint for Agility

Celigo Integration and Automation Julius Gamboa Photo

In his first session, Julius Gambao, ITG’s Practice Head for Integration and Automation, shared valuable insights on how to build agile and scalable automation strategies to support business growth. He emphasized that the first step in this journey is understanding the key challenges posed by disconnected systems—particularly in relation to order-to-cash transactions. He highlighted several common pain points:

  • Siloed systems that hinder seamless data flow
  • Manual processes that introduce inefficiencies and human errors
  • Legacy infrastructure that lacks the capacity to scale with increasing transaction volumes

To address these issues, Julius underscored the critical role of scalable automation, outlining how organizations can overcome these barriers by:

  • Connecting systems seamlessly to break down silos
  • Automating end-to-end workflows for improved accuracy and efficiency
  • Establishing a strong foundation capable of supporting long-term growth

His presentation concluded with a blueprint for building scalable automation, anchored on four key pillars:

  1. A clear vision and strategy – aligning automation goals with business objectives
  2. A robust integration platform as a service (iPaaS) – enabling secure and flexible connectivity
  3. A modular and flexible architecture – allowing for agility and ease of expansion
  4. Continuous monitoring and optimization – ensuring ongoing improvement and resilience

These core components provide organizations with a structured path toward sustainable digital transformation. As Julius emphasized, automation isn’t just about speed—it’s about creating a scalable, future-ready foundation that empowers businesses to adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.

This was demonstrated through a customer success story where a major food service company in Asia faced limitations with an outdated system—poor usability, error-prone workflows, and costly customizations. With their platform nearing end-of-life, they needed a scalable solution independent of their ERP replacement.

ITG delivered by automating approval workflows across ERP systems, creating a flexible integration layer, and implementing a user-friendly interface. The result: reduced errors, improved employee experience, and a future-ready, scalable workflow strategy.

Streamlining Operations through CRM–ERP Integration

The event concluded with an engaging live demonstration led by Keano Cruz, Pre-Sales Consultant at ITG, showcasing the capabilities of ITG’s Integration and Automation solution. Keano walked attendees through the platform’s key features—highlighting how organizations can seamlessly connect systems, automate complex workflows, and gain real-time visibility into operations.

From intuitive user interfaces to scalable architecture and powerful data integration capabilities, the demo demonstrated how the solution can significantly improve operational efficiency, reduce manual errors, and support smarter, faster decision-making.

This closing session reinforced a clear message: automation and integration are no longer optional—they’re essential to staying competitive in today’s digital economy.

Through its suite of Integration and Automation software offerings, ITG empowers businesses to modernize their processes, unify their systems, and lay the foundation for scalable, future-ready growth. Whether you’re just starting your digital transformation journey or looking to optimize existing operations, ITG is your trusted partner in building smarter, connected enterprises.
