ITG Hosts ISACA Technical Workshop

Last October 29, 2019, ITG partnered with ISACA to hosted a technical workshop that talks about “Transforming Log Data into Actionable Insights”. The training was held at the AIM Conference Center, Makati City.

The event was attended by a total of 54 participants from 25 companies across different industries. The goal of the workshop is for the participants to get a more technical insight into using log data in the workplace. The topic was discussed by ManageEngine’s Senior Technology Evangelist, Vivin Sathyan.

The workshop focused on the importance and cycle of logs that can be an indicator of a compromised system. Vivin emphasized that log management cannot fully prevent security attacks, but to minimize new attacks. He defined two steps to minimize new attacks which are; (1) prioritizing your log sources, and (2) defining indicators of compromise.

At the end of his presentation, Vivin showed the participants how ManageEngine’s Active Directory with User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) can help in detecting unusual user behavior. UBEA can detect anomalies by time, count and pattern.  This helped the participants understand how the system works and why it is important to acquire a security system for their respective organizations.
